YouthCare + One Roof Foundation Partnership

About The Partnership

One Roof Foundation, the Seattle Kraken (NHL) and Climate Pledge Arena have named YouthCare as its primary charitable partner. The relationship with YouthCare is part of a ten-year, $10-million partnership in which the Foundation will provide funds and in-kind donations to YouthCare. The holistic partnership hopes to move the needle in the fight against youth homelessness. The group plans to support YouthCare through amplifying its message, securing funds, and creating youth job training, internships, and employment opportunities.

About One Roof Foundation

One Roof Foundation serves as the philanthropic arm of the Seattle Kraken (NHL) and Climate Pledge Arena’s commitment to the Pacific Northwest community. The roof has long symbolized safety, security and shelter, and for YouthCare it also represents both our organizational beginnings as well as where we aspire to go.

A Little Background

In 2017, the Oak View Group—operator of Climate Pledge Arena—approached YouthCare to be its primary charitable partner in Seattle as the organization worked to raise additional awareness toward ending youth homelessness in the community. From day one, OVG has shared its passion for young people by translating it into a burgeoning partnership. Young people experiencing homelessness often tell us that they feel invisible in the city. Working together, One Roof Foundation, OVG, the Seattle Kraken and YouthCare will provide training and job opportunities for countless young people. The partnership helps young people thrive in new ways and helps provide new benefits and hope toward YouthCare’s mission of ending youth homelessness.

Employment Opportunities

There will be new jobs and internship opportunities for youth in various departments at Climate Pledge Arena, including the following:

Arena conversion
Box office
Restaurant
Skate sharpening
And others

Additionally, YouthCare will leverage its early apprenticeship program to place youth within some of the contractors who are developing different parts of the Seattle Kraken facilities.

Benefits of the Partnership

The Foundation’s long-term and holistic partnership with YouthCare includes traditional funding and fundraising support, plus marketing visibility that comes with a major sports team. The most vital element of the partnership is creating jobs and a mentorship program.
