Empowering Youth for Thriving Futures:
Our Community, Their Success
The current system for youth and young adults to access employment and education opportunities is fragmented and can be difficult to navigate. Without a strong social network, it can be overwhelming to know where to start in gaining the necessary skills and experience to launch, or even explore, a career.
The Constellation Center will bring the puzzle pieces together to create a hub of workforce development services. This will be a valuable resource center, connecting youth to a wide range of opportunities and support, both on site and in the community. Through this effort, service providers, businesses, post-secondary education, and neighbors will come together to work towards empowering our future leaders and helping them achieve their full potential.
This project is a collaboration between YouthCare, a Seattle-based nonprofit working to end youth homelessness, and Community Roots Housing (CRH), a developer and operator of affordable housing. This project will transform this corner of Capital Hill by establishing The Constellation Center, a three-story employment and education hub for youth and young adults, operated by YouthCare, and by adding 84 new affordable housing units managed by CRH. Fifteen of these new apartment homes will be reserved specifically for youth experiencing homelessness.
A Hub of Connection – for youth and for community
In Summer 2024, YouthCare will break ground for the Constellation Center, an innovative youth empowerment hub that opens pathways for young people transitioning from homelessness to thriving adulthood. Click below to read about YouthCare’s vision for the Constellation Center:
A Hub of Community Partners
At this center, community partners will collaborate to provide essential resources and opportunities for youth. Education and training programs offered by partners will empower youth with knowledge and skills needed for workforce success. Additionally, the center will focus on career discovery and sector-based training, partnering with local businesses and organizations to bridge the gap between education and employment. Pre-apprenticeships and direct connections to employers will prepare young people for interviews and valuable work experience. Holistic support services, including mental health and housing navigation, will be provided by community partners. The Constellation Center will create a comprehensive system of support for youth, made up of the partners listed below, providing connection to resources and training on site, and a network of partners beyond the walls of the building.
