The Seattle Kraken celebrated its annual YouthCare game night during its face-off with the New Jersey Devils at Climate Pledge Arena last week. The evening was full of fun, awards, and raising awareness for youth experiencing homelessness!
YouthCare remains honored and grateful to be the primary charitable partner for Seattle’s one and only NHL team, the Seattle Kraken. YouthCare game night is an exciting opportunity to recognize and uplift our ongoing partnership to support youth in housing crisis. Fifty percent of net proceeds from raffle ticket sales go directly to YouthCare, with many more spotlight features about YouthCare’s work scheduled throughout the evening.
Last week, before the game began, Kraken players showed their support by wearing YouthCare t-shirts and posing for photos. Staff and clients gathered, also decked out in YouthCare swag, to cheer on our home team. YouthCare and One Roof Foundation (ORF) staffed the Anchor Auction table, with prizes including signed Kraken jerseys and other exciting items, and all proceeds going toward YouthCare’s mission.
As part of this special night, Linzy Burton, YouthCare’s Youth Action and Community Manager, was honored as the Kraken’s “Hero of the Deep”. Chosen for his longtime commitment to and work with youth, Linzy was featured on the big screen, and was presented with a $32,000 check to donate to the charity of his choice. We are grateful he chose YouthCare, and we are grateful for his incredible work with young people!

Throughout the game, the big screen featured YouthCare content and videos, including a specially made video featuring a recent Kraken, ORF, and Filson partnership drive for YouthCare. Game attendees were given a chance to donate through QR codes also featured on the big screen, with easy access via their phones.
A fun highlight of the evening was YouthCare’s own Antonio Rodriguez, Community Resource and Volunteer Specialist, riding the Zamboni in honor of YouthCare! We hope Antonio had the time of his life on the ice!
