As we celebrate 50 years of Pride at YouthCare, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to supporting LGBTQIA+ youth. The reality is stark: LGBTQIA+ youth are disproportionately affected by homelessness and violence. In King County, about a third of homeless youth identify as trans or queer, a stark contrast to their 5% representation in the general population. This disparity underscores the urgent need for dedicated support and services.

At YouthCare, we recognize the unique challenges faced by queer and trans youth. Many are forced to leave their homes due to rejection, mistreatment, or outright expulsion by their families. Once on the streets, they face higher risks of violence and discrimination. This is unacceptable, and we provide a safe haven for these young individuals.

Our mission goes beyond simply offering shelter. We strive to create an environment where LGBTQIA+ youth feel valued, supported, and empowered. Recently, we marched in Seattle’s Pride Parade, not just in celebration but as a statement of solidarity and commitment to justice and equality for our community.

YouthCare’s services are tailored to meet the specific needs of queer and trans youth. This includes medical assistance, therapy, and ensuring a safe space where they are free from bullying and harassment. We welcome them with open arms and provide the resources they need to thrive.
