YouthCare’s Orion Center is now part of King County’s forward-thinking initiative to provide life-saving resources to vulnerable youth. As one of four selected locations, the center now houses a harm reduction vending machine offering free, anonymous access to vital supplies like naloxone, fentanyl test strips, safer sex kits, and hygiene products. 

For young people facing homelessness, the dangers of substance use, exposure to violence, and limited access to healthcare are daily realities. The instability of not having a secure home exacerbates these risks, making it harder for them to get the care they need. These vending machines serve as a critical tool, ensuring that youth have access to resources that can save lives, prevent overdoses, and reduce health risks. 

By offering these supplies in a non-judgmental, supportive environment like the Orion Center, YouthCare empowers young people to take charge of their well-being. This approach directly aligns with YouthCare’s mission to provide resources that protect and support at-risk youth on their journey toward stability. 

We are thrilled to be part of this innovative harm reduction effort. With King County’s support, we are offering young people the tools they need to make safer decisions, safeguarding their health and futures. 

In addition to the Orion Center, vending machines are also located at Peer Seattle, Peer Kent, and the Compass Day Center.
