YouthCare board member Jennifer Ting will be joining us on March 19 for our 30th Annual Luncheon, marking her fifth year as a table captain. She recently shared the following reflections on why she keeps coming back:
The luncheon is short and impactful. My friends are moved by the speakers and appreciate the no-fuss sack lunches that keep costs down so that donations can go straight to YouthCare’s programs to help homeless youth. They also enjoy being a part of something big and meeting others with similar passions. It’s a great event!
She also shared how she got involved and tips for spreading the word:
My son and I began cooking monthly dinners at YouthCare’s James W. Ray Orion Center about four years ago, and we quickly became passionate about YouthCare. I love sharing YouthCare’s work with the community and continue to invite friends and family to prepare and serve meals with us.
I began talking about YouthCare with everyone I knew. People are so interested in getting behind a cause that makes a difference every day. I talk about it on the soccer sidelines, at neighborhood picnics, anywhere. I am often surprised to see who carves out time to attend and change the lives of youth in our community. People care!
Becoming a table captain is a great way to support YouthCare and provides a unique opportunity to share your passion for YouthCare’s work with those you care about. Table captains typically commit to filling a table of 10, but some choose to do a half table, or even two or three tables! We will provide you with materials and support to make inviting guests easy.
