The Boeing Company has awarded a $75,000 grant to support two employment training programs for homeless youth. Their generous gift will help students in YouthCare’s YouthTech program and the Barista Training and Education Program, a partnership between YouthCare and FareStart.
Homeless youth face significant barriers to employment, including lack of skills and experience. YouthCare’s employment training programs provide hands-on skill building along with employment case managers to help young people build a resume, practice interview skills, and set career goals. Students in the 8-week Barista program and the 12-week YouthTech program also enroll in GED tutoring or high school classes to pursue their diploma.
Boeing’s generous support covers a significant portion of the cost of the Barista and YouthTech, which will help 90 young people boost their employability and earnings over the next year.
