Dear Friends,

After 15 years of service to our community, I will be transitioning out of my role as CEO & President of YouthCare, effective August 31, 2021. The last 18 months has presented many challenges to all of us. Much has changed and I feel that it is an important time to step aside to make way for new leadership.

YouthCare is well positioned to bring a new era of support for young people. Our team is engaged and excited about developing innovative programming for young people. Our program plan is strong and outcomes driven. I am energized by the possibilities that lie ahead for our young people and YouthCare as an organization.

On a personal note, I have accepted a fellowship at Harvard University to study the issue of Youth Homelessness and the policies and systems that perpetuate instability for young people. I will also continue as Chair of the National Network for Youth and hope to contribute to the overall field through my fellowship.

I am so proud of the work we’ve done through the years at YouthCare. There hasn’t been a day that I have not been excited to walk through our doors and roll up my sleeves in support of youth. I am deeply grateful to our compassionate community members like you, who continue to ensure that young people experiencing homelessness can find safety, stability, and a path forward at YouthCare. YouthCare’s mission and its young people will always be close to my heart.

YouthCare’s Board of Directors and leadership team are working with me on a transition plan. The team will be sharing more about Interim leadership and the search process for a new CEO.

Thank you for the honor of a lifetime. It has been my privilege to partner with you in support of the incredibly resilient and inspiring young people working hard for their futures.

With deep admiration,

Dr. Melinda Giovengo
CEO & President

Dear Community Members,

As Melinda has shared, she will be stepping down from her position as the CEO & President of YouthCare as of August 31, 2021. On behalf of YouthCare’s Board of Directors, I would like to share some reflections and information on YouthCare’s leadership transition.

For 15 years, Melinda has played a pivotal role in the development and success of YouthCare as a passionate champion for youth in our local and national communities. Under her leadership, YouthCare has grown steadily in its influence and ability to transform the lives of thousands of young people. We wish Melinda all the best in her next chapter and appreciate her continued support of young people experiencing homelessness.

As a result of this transition, YouthCare will be conducting a national search for its next CEO. In support, YouthCare’s Board of Directors has formed a search committee to direct that effort. We will also be identifying an Interim CEO to lead YouthCare as we search for new leadership. We look forward to keeping you updated as the search process moves forward.

YouthCare’s Board of Directors and staff are dedicated to ensuring a seamless transition. We remain committed to our mission to help youth feel valued for who they are and empowered to achieve their potential.

Thank you for your partnership.

Sincerely,

Karen Jones, Chair
YouthCare Board of Directors
