As I sit in my office reflecting over the past few weeks, there is so much to be thankful for. Despite significant federal budget cuts and expiring private funds, our Young Adult Shelter has survived, the YouthBuild and Civic Justice Corps employment training programs remain open and accepting new cohorts, and a full holiday season has begun. This is thanks to the extraordinary support of this community; staff who give of themselves each day to make the lives of young people not just safe but joyful, productive, and fulfilling; individuals and businesses who volunteer in our programs and give generously to the mission; and local government leaders who see the need and act quickly to support it.
Over the next days and weeks, thanks to your support, our young people will learn that holidays can be warm and joyful. They will be well-fed and comforted by the gatherings in our shelters and housing programs. They will open a gift that has been wrapped just for them, and know that they are cared for. They will begin to heal.
Thank you for your support, and best wishes to you and your family this holiday weekend.
In gratitude,
Melinda Giovengo
