Youth Advocacy Day
February 8, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 2:00 pm
“If you’re not at the table, you’re on the table.”
Mockingbird Society’s 17th annual Youth Advocacy Day (YAD) — brings together advocates from across the state to encourage our elected leaders to support solutions for transforming Washington State’s foster care system and ending youth homelessness. Registration and participation in this day of change is free for all!
— What is YAD? —
A chance to make your voice heard about issues you care about! Armed with a youth-led legislative agenda and signature orange scarves, you and youth advocates will meet with elected officials to talk about why these issues matter. The day includes amazing speeches by young people, policymakers, and fellow advocates. We will also rally and march around the capitol to ensure we’re heard in our efforts to break down perceptions that stand in the way of every youth and young adult having a safe and stable home.
— Who comes to YAD? —
Youth and young adults who have experienced foster care and/or homelessness; Community partners; and ANYONE who believes we can work together to improve foster care and end youth homelessness!
