More than 1,000 community members joined us on March 22 at The Westin Seattle for YouthCare’s 27th Annual Luncheon. The event was a tremendous success, raising a record breaking $553,327. All gifts over $250 were matched by a pool of generous supporters, and thanks to our generous sponsors, 100% of donations will go directly to supporting YouthCare’s work.
The real accomplishment of the event was not just the money raised to support our housing programs, our outreach team, the meals served three times a day at the James W. Ray Orion Center, and our many other programs. Attendees learned about the strength of our young people – the strength they have to overcome addiction, to stand up to discrimination and violence, and to simply hope for a better future.
Our sincere thanks go out to the Luncheon Committee, our table captains, volunteers, staff, Challenge Pool donors, and corporate sponsors, for making this luncheon our most successful to date. We are so grateful to have a community of dedicated and caring supporters helping us to provide effective services to Seattle’s homeless young people.
The video that made its debut at the luncheon is below – we hope you'll watch to learn about why and how we work to get homeless youth off the streets and preparing for life. Many of you asked afterwards about the verdict of the trial of the man who sold Nacole's daughter – he was convincted and sentenced to 26 and a half years.
