The holidays are a special time: there’s excitement in the air as we exchange gifts, gather around the table, and count our blessings. Every young person deserves to experience those special moments. At YouthCare, staff are working hard throughout the season so youth can feel more at home during this time of year. Can you help us? Read on for six simple ways you can make the holidays brighter for homeless youth right now!

3.)    Host a Holiday Food Drive

Gathering around a delicious meal is a cherished part of the holidays. We’re reminded of the holiday movie “The Grinch,” where a young Grinch stands outside in the blustery snow, peers into the window of a family’s home, and sees them enjoying a lovely meal. Grinch then feels unspeakable sadness for having no place to go himself. We never want young people in our care to feel this way. You can make youth feel cared for during this time of year. Drop off needed food items so our programs can prepare a holiday feast for youth. Please send an email to for more information!

4.)    Start Your Own Holiday Fundraiser or Event!

We can’t do this work without you. Thankfully, technology makes it easy to fundraise for a cause that means a lot to you. We’re excited to partner with Crowdrise and Facebook to help you start your own fundraiser for homeless youth! There are endless creative ideas that you can add to your schedule of festivities this season, like hosting an ugly sweater party or holiday bake sale in benefit of YouthCare.

5.)    Make Your Year-End Gift

Put homeless youth in the center of your heart this season by making a donation to YouthCare. Your support means that more young people can access our life-changing programs that help them achieve their potential. Thank you for thinking of our community’s homeless youth as you consider your year-end giving.

6.)    Shop & Give

During the hustle and bustle of the giving season, many of us are preparing to shop for gifts for our loved ones. There’s a ton of ways to give to youth experiencing homelessness while you’re at it! If you’re shopping on Amazon for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, use Amazon Smile to automatically give back to YouthCare! Just choose YouthCare as the nonprofit beneficiary on the Amazon Smile website!
